PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Grown in the lowland rainforest of northern Peru, AYNI’s Amazonian Native Cacao carries ancient genetics connected to a long history of cacao cultivation in the region. Near Jaén, Cajamarca, archaeological evidence from Montegrande reveals a relationship with cacao dating back more than 5,000 years.
This cacao is cultivated by four Awajún communities, Wawas, Wawain, Pakun and Pakui, using ancestral practices guided by the rhythms of the moon. Growing beneath native trees such as aguaje, laurel and pacae, cacao forms part of diverse agroforestry systems that nurture biodiversity and sustain the forest.
A fine aroma native cacao, that carry ancient genetics grown in the awajun territory from generations in harmony with the forest and the traditions of the people who care for it.
